Principal’s Update 8/28

  • Dear Parents,

I hope you are enjoying the remaining days prior to the beginning of school on Tuesday, August 29. The teachers and I are looking forward to seeing all our Wildcats!

Hopefully, you have begun the ritual of earlier bedtime so your child becomes acclimated to earlier rising. One day at a time!

May we continue to pray for one another.

    God bless,

    Sister Margaret

    Summer Improvements at the Academy

    • We are in the process of finalizing the purchase of new bleachers for the gym. A delivery date has not been identified. There will also be additional upgrades to the gym as well as needed purchases for equipment for various sports teams and PE classes. Additional information will be shared at Back to School Night.
    • This summer we upgraded our security system. Cameras were placed at strategic location around campus. We have a video component that will record activity for at least 30 days.
    •  The school air conditioner had a few issues but replacement parts were installed and all is working in good order.
    • We are in the process of upgrading the heating system. The company will be installing a new expansion tank.
    • I am grateful to our maintenance crew for all their work during the summer months. The clockhouse bathrooms were painted along with other improvements throughout the building. The academy had extensive cleaning throughout the building along with the stripping and waxing of all classrooms and hallways.

    Faculty Updates

    • Mrs. Elizabeth Minker has accepted a position at  Coatesville School District. I am grateful to Mrs. Minker for her work with our middle school science program. I welcome Mrs. Kelly DiFilippo to Saint Aloysius Academy. Mrs. Di Filippo is an experienced educator and most recently a teacher of middle school science. Mrs. DiFilippo has been in school preparing for the new school year. She looks forward to meeting all the boys.
    • Mrs. Mary Ellen Cox will be retiring at the end of August. There are not enough words to thank Mrs. Cox for all she has shared with our school community. Her years of service to SAA have been a blessing and I know she will be missed by all. I reminded Mrs. Cox that she is only a phone call away and I will be dialing her number many times.  Mrs. Myriam Lacouline has accepted the position as Director of Finance for Saint Aloysius Academy. Mrs. Lacouline is a certified Public Accountant with a MA in Business Administration. During this transition period Mrs. Lacouline has been working closely with Mrs. Cox and our various financial partners.  I look forward to working with Mrs. Lacouline and our Finance Board.
    • Mrs. Mary FitzHenry has resigned her position as SAA school nurse because of a family situation. Mrs. FitzHenry has been a wonderful asset to our boys, faculty, and parents. She will be missed. Saint Aloysius Academy is looking for a RN or LPN for four days a week. There is flexibility with the hours. It is important to have someone on site at least from 10:00-2:00. Please contact me if you know of someone who may be interested in this position.
